Deorital is an emerald lake perched at a height of 2438 mts above sea level. Early morning on a clear day, DeoriTal blesses one with miraculous reflections of Chaukhamba peaks on its crystal clear water.

The famous Tungnath temple is not less than 1000 years old and, according to scriptures, is the third temple to be visited in the Panch Kedar circuit. Legend goes that, it was constructed by Pandavas after the Kurukshetra War.

Chandrashila top offers a 360-degree view of some great mountains of Uttarakhand like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nandaghunti, Kamet, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, Kedardome, Thalaysagar, Gangotri ranges, Jahanukut and more. Kartik Swami temple is the only temple dedicated to God Kartik known as Lord Murga in southern India. We cover Deorital lake, Tungnath temple & Chandrashila and Kartik Swami in this trek.

 

ITINERARY:
Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Sari village (6600 ft | 6-7 hrs drive) and hike to Deorital (3 kms | 3 hrs hike | 7,900 ft):
Start early from Rishikesh to Sari village. The drive will take you through Devprayag (confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda), Rudraprayag (confluence of Mandakini and Alaknanda).
Overnight stay in tents.

Day 2: Drive to Chopta (8,800 ft | 35 kms) & hike to Tungnath (12,070 ft) and Chandrashila (1300 ft) (Trek distance: 8 kms | 5 – 6 hrs):
This is summit day. Wake up early morning and drive to Chopta.
From Chopta start the climb to Tungnath temple. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world, situated at 12,070 ft.
From Tungnath temple ascend further up to Chandrashila top, to get theview of the beautiful Himalayan peaks. The Chandrashila top gives 360 degree view of Garhwal and Kumaon peaks!
Stay at top for time before you start your descend back to Chopta. We will stay in Sari village.

Day 3: Sari village to Deorital trek (3 hours | 7850 ft) and drive to Kanakchauri:
With early morning breakfast start the hike to Deorital. It’s a 3 hour hike which traverses through beautiful rhododendron forest.
Deorital is a beautiful alpine lake situated at 7850 feet. The reflection of Himalayan peak Chaukhamba fall on it on a clear day. We spend time around the lake and later have lunch and hike down to Sari village.
We will drive to Kanakchauri – a beautiful village at the base of Kartik Swami temple.

Day 4: Hike to Kartik Swami temple for sunrise view (a 3 kms hike) and back to base and drive to Rishikesh.
We start before sunrise to witness the first light of the sun on the peaks seen from the Kartik Swami Temple.
One gets magnificent view of Garhwal Himalayn range.
It’s an easy climb to the temple with steps.
After spending some time here, we will descend back to Kanakchauri and Rishikesh.

Cancellation Policy:
For the cancellation of a trek due to any unavoidable situation has to be notified in writing.

  • Cancellation 30 days before the start of the trek – refund of the trek fees with 10% cancellation charges.
  • Cancellation between 30 to 20 days before the start of the trek – refund of the trek fees with 20% cancellation charges.
  • Cancellation between 20 to 10 days before the trek – refund of the trek fees with 30% cancellation charges.
  • Cancellation less than 10 days before the trek – refund of the trek fees with 50% cancellation charges.
